Saturday Morning - over to register, and amazing, no line ups!! For the first time in four years- it was very surprising - the registration went much more smoothly. The fact you had been at a previous CSW meant that you did not have to go thru quite the security check.
There will be confusion though with the access to some of the sights - you need a secondary pass. But those will be handed out on Monday, and each organization is to get one, that will need to be shared. We will see how all that plays out.
Met up with wonderful women from Nepal, India and Korea. You can see their photos in the slide show below - CSW 2011. The women from India and Nepal are here to speak for the widows. The number of women who are widows, with little or no opportunity for improving their lives is growing. They actually have a group Women for Human Rights, Single Women Group which looks at single women who are widows, women who are divorced, women who have left their husbands, older single/never married women, and women whose husbands have vanished. Meena Khanna who is the Vice Chair of the Guild of Service in New Delhi, India, is working with the Women for Human Rights - they have training centres and places for the widows to live.
Later, Ardith and I walked and walked - over 11,000 steps according to my pedometer. We went to Macey's and if you look at the slide show, you can see the crazy shoes for sale. How women wear them, i don't know. But the colours were gorgoeous, and I thought you might like to see the fashion from New York.
