Balancing family and work is an important part of looking at women and education and women and work.
Background:
On average the proportion of men and women aged 25 to 54 did some housework daily. It rose from 72% in 1986 to 70% in 2005.
The increase was attributable to men, whose participation rose from 54% to 69%. The participation rate for women remained steady at about 90%. Parity in labour was found when wives have high income.
The Commission on the Status of Women will be meeting in New York from February 22nd to March 4th, 2011. The theme this year is access and participation of women and girls to education, training, science and technology, including for the promotion of women’s equal access to full employment and decent work
