The name Charlotte Bunch is well known to many of us who have worked with global agencies, the U.N., and the interenational women's movement. It was Charlotte that developed the theme "Women's Rights are Human Rights, and Hunan Rights are Women's Rights".
Charlotte is now retired from her position with the Centre for Women's Gobal Leadership (CWBL) - i was at her wonderful party last year at the CSW, although she continues as a Senior Scholar.
But CWBL is very active under the leadership of Radhika Balakrishnan, the new Executive Director, paticulary addressing economic and social rights.
CWBL will be holding a number of events duing the CSW - including one on the GEAR campaign on the 24th of Feb. Check out http://cwgl.rutgers.edu/globalcenter/policy/csw11/index.html
The Commission on the Status of Women will be meeting in New York from February 22nd to March 4th, 2011. The theme this year is access and participation of women and girls to education, training, science and technology, including for the promotion of women’s equal access to full employment and decent work
